In Taiwan Hakka Museum, a special exhibition "Sister-Hakka Women's Figure" was held in Cultural Gallery on September 15, 2018. The exhibition featured Hakka women, and the selected digital images of our museum were 70 pieces of work by Hakka photographers from the Japanese rule to the 1990s, such as Deng Nanguang, Li Wangxiu, Wu Jinmiao, Zhang Axiang, Li Xiuyun, Chen Liwen, Wu Jinrong, Chen Yanchuan, Li Zengchang, Liu Anming, Huang Shengmu, Li Zhenji, Zhong Baozhu, etc. All these images were taken in the cities where the photographer lived, and the social environment that they were familiar with and also from the daily life, the customs, the families, the neighbors who they were familiar with, so that they could present the Hakka women's life experience from different time and perspectives.

Starting from the image of the home, this exhibition symbolizes the course of time by walking through the corridor. The hanging cloths are metaphors of the roof and pillars of the home, which imply that women of every age are important pillars of a home. Historical images of five themes, including “Daily life of a Family”, "Industry Activities", "Popular Fashion", "Educational Enlightenment" and "Social participation", are telling the beauty of the firm and persistent life of Hakka women about how they stepped from the traditional path into the modern course, and hope through the direct heart-touching images of female characters which are documentary, authenticity and taken under the simple lens to reflect the true memory of Hakka history.

On the opening day, we invited Professor Dr. Wong Wun Bin from the Institute of Chinese Studies of the University Tunku Abdul Rahman in Malaysia, Professor Dr. Lee Leong Sze from the Research Center of Southeast and South Asia of the Kaohsiung Normal University, Ms. Liao Huiqing, member of the Hakka Affairs Council, Professor Dr. Zhou Jinhong, Dean of College of Hakka Studies at Nation Central University, Professor Dr. Lin Pneshuan, Dean of College Hakka Studies at National United University, Professor Dr. Hsu Yutsuen from the Department of Southeast Asian Studies at National Chi Nan University, Mr. Huang Zengqi, Chairman of the Taiwan Yuan-li Handiwork Association, and Wang Lilan, Instructor of Malay language in the National Taipei University of Technology to visit the exhibition.
