The 3rd Taiwan Provincial Road spans over 8 towns in Miaoli County, which produce different vegetables and fruits throughout the year, acting as the major production town of organic farming in Northern Taiwan. On May 5th, the ‘green lunch banquet’ combined Miaoli’s local agricultural production with Hakka snacks, launching a fresh lunch banquet with ingredients freshly delivered from its origin. With the creative implementation of the concept of origin-to-kitchen delivery, the farmers turned their fresh agricultural products to mouthwatering snacks, healthy jujube balls, almond tofu with taro balls and unique loquat tarts. Participants were in awe with the variety of snacks available, saying that the lunch banquet is of great value with its fresh agricultural products of the season available not only to be eaten, but also to be purchased on-site. Special activities such as sharing of small farmers, limited sale of agricultural products were also hosted in which farmers took turns to introduce and sell their products to the public on site; the lunch banquet also invited ‘Liudong Community’ to create images with bamboo, offer participants with a sip of the famous Hakka Panzhuang Tea; participants were not only able to enjoy delicious delicacies, but also experience Hakka crafts, Tong flower lamps as launched by the farmers and paper crafts for DIY workshops, not to mention the Hakka game ‘hitting gyro’ as offered by the Taiwan Hakka Culture Development Center. Participants were able to share nostalgic fun with their family and enjoy quintet performance at the banquet, adding a touch of literary atmosphere to the feast.
