To promote Hakka culture, the Hakka Cultural Development Center of Hakka Affairs Council has designed a customized travel package for kids from kindergartens and elementary schools for their one-day trip or half-day trip.

Today (4/27), three kindergarten groups, namely Taichung Fengyuan Ideal Kindergarten, Miaoli Tatung Elementary School’s Attached Kindergarten and Miaoli Kunggang Elementary School’s Attached Kindergarten, visited the Miaoli Park.

In line with the theme of May ─ Tung Blossom Festival, all the kids were first guided to the interactive learning theater of Children’s Museum to watch a video named "Wishes of Tung Trees" and played games. It was hoped that they could better understand the relationships between Tung trees and Hakka-village life. Then, they were ushered to the "Braving Hi Hakka Island Special Exhibition," in which children explored the colorful Hi Hakka Castle to learn more about Hakka culture.

In the afternoon, kids from Taichung Fengyuan Ideal Kindergarten, who were here for a one-day trip, were guided to the "Treasure Hidden in Hakka Villages ─ Special Exhibition for Walkers along Mountain and Sea Lines" to see exhibitions under the "Hakka Villages and Lacquer" theme. It was hoped that they could better understand the lacquerware industry in their hometown and appreciate the beauty of lacquer painting. Finally, they were guided to the Hakka Hospitality Garden, where they strolled on the forest trails and observed the Tung trees and Tung flowers.

Ho Jin-liang, Director of Hakka Culture Development Center, gave pop-up books and picture books to teachers of the three visiting kindergartens for their teaching materials.

Ho also said, “We will tailor thematic trips for different age groups in the hope to attract more people to know and fall in love with Hakka culture.”

Miaoli Park welcomes any school interested in appreciating Tung flowers to book a trip at Tel: 037-985558 ext. 505.
