The systems and concepts of Han Race ritual in worshiping ancestors often have a great effect on the developments of traditional cultures and the whole social values. With the passage of time, the concept of gender equality is widely accepted in modern society. As such, many traditional social values are facing great challenges.

In the rituals of Hakka society, many clans start to give up the traditional concept of patrilineal succession. They have made some changes to the clan ceremonies or customs, beginning to think highly of the status and rights of the clan women. For example, they open the opportunity for females to serve as a master of the ceremony, worship the female ancestors, open the enshrinement of females in the ancestral tombs, and even record females into their own genealogy, all of which greatly increase the rights of women and become a good example of social equality.

Taiwan Hakka Culture Development Center of Hakka Affairs Council hopes to play the role as the “forum” platform of the museum. Through the data surveys, in-depth interviews, field records and communication in the forum, it is hoped to have a more comprehensive understanding of the case promotion processes of female ancestral tablet, enshrinement of females in the ancestral tombs and female masters of ceremony. Besides, Taiwan Hakka Culture Development Center preliminarily organizes the results of the field surveys from August 2018 to the early June 2019 and presents the processes of the promotion efforts of every clan by means of videos, DM and brochures. What’s more, the topics and cases are provided to Hakka Television Station to help the production of two segment reports of the 640th episode in the Hakka Weekly, two of which are “Females Ancestors Can Go Back to Their Home” and “Female Masters of Ceremony in Fan-Jiang Family”. It is hoped that these reports can allow more people to understand the issues and phenomena caused between the clan and the rights of females.
