Miaoli Park starts to accept application for 3rd-phase Volunteer Recruitment Program in 2016

1. Purpose:

In response to the national policy in promoting volunteerism and integrating human resources for promotion of Hakka culture, the Miaoli Hakka Cultural Park, Hakka Cultural Development Center, Hakka Affairs Council (hereinafter referred to as the Park) launches the 3rd-phase Volunteer Recruitment Program in 2016.

4. Targets for recruitment:

  1. ROC nationals aged 15 years or older, physically and mentally able, with service-oriented mindset, willing to interact with the crowd. Any applicant aged 18 or younger must present the consent form signed by his/her parent (or legal guardian).
  2. ROC nationals interested in Hakka history and culture, willing to serve in the Park, able to participate in training courses and take job rotation and serve for at least one year.

5. Service Content:

  1. Exhibition services: Provide advisory services to visitors, guide visitors on the tour and support activities of the Park.
  2. Environmental Education: Help promote environmental education courses and support environmental education activities of the Park.
  3. Guided tours: Offer services on guided tours, including booked group tours and/or fixed-time and fixed-point tours. Support any park activities and so forth

6. Service Time:

  1. Operating Time of the Park is 9:00 - 17:00, Tuesday to Sunday. Volunteers shall serve in either morning shift from 9:00 - 13:00 or afternoon shift from 13:00 - 17:00.
  2. Volunteers shall serve at least 12 hours every two months.

7. Service Location:

Miaoli Hakka Cultural Park, Hakka Cultural Development Center, Hakka Affairs Council (Address: No.6, Tongke South Road, Jiouhu Village, Tongluo Township, Miaoli County)

8. Application Methods: 

From now on until August 22, 2016, please choose one of the following ways to sign yourself up.

  1. Application by mail: Download the registration form (attached) from our official website (http://thcdc.hakka.gov.tw) and send the filled form to "Public Service Section, Hakka Cultural Development Center of Hakka Affairs Council," whose address is No.6, Tongke South Road, Jiouhu Village, Tongluo Township, Miaoli County.   2. Application in person: Please fill out the application form in person at No. 1 Service Desk of the Park.
  3. Online application: Fill in the application form at our online registration system (https://goo.gl/o0jK2a)

9. Screening and Selection Processes:

Screening and Selection Processes for new volunteers are: Documentary review → Interview → Training → Practical training → Official volunteers (after passing the appraisal of practical training).

  1. Documentary review: After the registration deadline, the Park will have a documentary review on the basic information of each applicant and inform those qualified for Interview by text message or e-mail.
  2. Interview: Those who pass the interview will be invited to participate in training courses for volunteers.
  3. Training: Basic training for 12 hours and special training for 20 hours.
  4. Practical Training: Those who complete practical training courses will be conferred the Practical-Training Volunteer certificate. Those who practice volunteer jobs on the field for at least 30 hours and pass our appraisal ([Note]) will be issued the Volunteer Service certificate and the Letter of Appointment and become official volunteers of the Park.

[Note]: The Park will decide whether to send the admission notice based on the appraisal results on a volunteer’s performance during both his/her Training and Practical Training sessions.

11. Supplementary Provisions:

  1. Volunteers will offer their service in the Park without remuneration and the hours they spend for training and practical training will not be counted as official volunteer’s service hours.
  2. Volunteers shall comply with the Center’s relevant rules for volunteer service and shall be subject to the assessment of the Park during their service period.
  3. During the training period and before formal employment, a trainee shall not use the title of “Volunteer” to take part in any activity and do not enjoy any park-related benefits except the insurance coverage during the training period.
  4. Those who receive training shall fulfill their obligations, and they are welcomed to schedule their services in various shifts.
