2017 Hakka Culture Promotion: The last activity of the series “Thanks for the hospitality of Hakka village”. All new and old friends are welcomed to join us for the festival!!
We present you “Thanks for the hospitality of Hakka village” series to provide citizens an opportunity the experience the multi-culture of Hakka and enjoy the show and DIY activities of Hakka features. At the four festivals of a year, “Children’s Day”, “Mothers’ Day”, “Dragon Boat Festival ” and “Fathers’ Day”, we organize a series of creative activities like “Fun Painting for Kids”, “Serving Tea for Mother ”, “The Drum Festival in May” and “Taking Burden on Your Shoulder”. We intend to show everyone the lively life form and hospitality of Hakka. We also want to show teenagers the culture and customs of Hakka through shows, exhibitions and the integration of them.
The first three activities (Fun Painting for Kids, Serving Tea for Mother, The Drum Festival in May) have already been held with thousands of visitors. Don’t miss the last chance to experience the Hakka culture.!!/span>
【The last activity: “Taking Burden on Your Shoulder】 Date: The 5thof August (Sat.), the 6th of August (Sun.)
❋Tournament of Hài dān:
It will be started in the morning of the 5th and 6th of August. All families are welcomed to participate, and understand the hard work and responsibility of fathers. It may coherent family members, moving your bodies and let you enjoy the view of the park. All participants will receive a free ticket for “Hakka Theatre”. The first three candidates will also receive a Hakka gift package (worth NTD 2,450).

❋Hakka DIY workshop: Making mochi (sticky rice balls):
Visitors of the 5th of August can join this workshop for free by showing a learning ticket from any booth in the part and checking-in on Facebook. There are only 100 trials, first come first served.
❋“Thanks for the hospitality of Hakka village” Show:
In the afternoon of the 5th of August, there is a show of dance and song to the strength and beauty of Hakka at the slope plaza of the park. It is presented by AmuBwiy Puing Culture Arts Group, Lucky band and YeYu-ting, the winner of 2016 Taiwan Composition and Songwriting Contest Hakka Group.
On August 6, Mr. Lin Sheng-xiang, winner of The Judges’ Choice of Golden Melody Awards 2017 is invited to show us his creations of love and strength. We also invite the ladies from the local communities to dance and celebrate Fathers’ Day.
Hakka DialectClass:
Hài dān (㧡擔) means carry two burdens on one’s shoulder with a pole. In the past, Hakka people mostly lived in mountains, and human labor force was needed to carry burden. The burdens were loaded in bamboo baskets and carried on people’s back or with a pole. It was said that “You would not know how hard it is by just looking at someone carries a burden.” This saying can most suitable to describe the hardworking of Hakka people in mountains.
