Liudui Hakka Cultural Park Hakka Canteen Outdoor Dining Area is to be Refurnished
Liudui Hakka Cultural Park, as managed by the Taiwan Hakka Culture Development Center, is an ecological museum that aims to promote Hakka culture. The Park is 30 hectares. Apart from natural sceneries such as Natural Grassland Area, Prairie Area and 2nd Phase of the Waterway Ecological Zone, the main architectural feature of the Park is its main building of six large umbrella stands. Under the stands, different humanity areas are planned for visitors to experience diverse Hakka cultures, thereby promoting Hakka special industries.
Jin-Liang, He, director of the Taiwan Hakka Culture Development Center stated that, the umbrella stands at Liudui Hakka Cultural Park is a new environmentally friendly architectural design concept. The principle of such design is to make use of factors such as air convection and anti-wind pressure, so as to achieve moderate shade and for cool down. At the same time, integrate the image of Hakka oil paper umbrella in a natural and energy-saving way to create the feeling of wild forests through the semi-open space. The dining area at the Hakka Canteen is divided into two main divisions, with a total of 124 seats at the semi-open dining area and 125 seats at the indoor dining area.
Due to the recent momentarily heavy rainfall in the southern mountainous area, the “Hakka Canteen” building under the umbrella stands experienced splashes of waterways due to blockage at the water columns in the semi-open dining area. In the future, water flow of the drainage system will be further improved through diversion channels.
