Village History Writing Talent Training Workshop is now open for application for those interested!!
In recent years, knowledge production has begun to shift from the government to the private sector. History recording is no longer limited to the intellectual class, but has fallen onto the shoulders of community residents. Village history emphasizes on the collection and interpretation of local historical materials from the perspective of locals, and presents a pluralistic view of the particularity of local cultures. Through planned lessons and assistance of professionals, community residents are given the opportunity to explore and rebuild common memories of themselves, their families and communities through writings.
Due to the rapid loss of community family history and local characteristics in recent years, the preservation and continuation of the collective memory and spiritual culture of the community have become an urgent topic. This plan will target a total of 10 Hakka villages from Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Miaoli and other Hakka key development areas for the data collection and writing of village history, in order to construct a more complete Hakka history and knowledge system, which will be the cornerstone of future Hakka village development.
In order to teach the public how to write village history, the team plans to hold four courses, with 20 hours of training for each course.
Each training course is composed of 6 lessons:
1. Taiwan Village History and Local History Writing – 4 hours
2. Video Recording and Editing – 4 hours
3. Methods of Local Resources Exploration – 4 hours
4. Application of Taiwan Online Research Databases – 4 hours
5. Literature and Oral History – 3 hours
6. Village History Philosophy and Research Ethics – 1 hour
