The Hakka Museum of Taiwan has been taking the collection and display of Hakka's main civilization and the link to the development of Hakka academics as its core task. Since its name was changed to a museum in 2017, the Hakka physical cultural relics collection work has been fully launched. More than 13,000 pieces have been collected until 2018. In order to show our fellow countrymen the collection of the Hakka cultural relics and thank the Hakka community for their generous donations, the museum is scheduled on May 19 to hold a thank-you ceremony at the Hakka Museum of Taiwan and present a certificate of appreciation to the 26 cultural relics donors in 2018. Through this grand event, it is hoped to invite various circles to participate in the task of collecting Hakka cultural relics, and help Taiwan’s Hakka culture to hand down forever.
"Meeting Hakka Collection" is an exhibition of cultural relics focusing on collections. The purpose is to show the performance of the operation of the Museum's treasury. It also reveals the in-depth connotation of Hakka culture through the display of physical objects. This exhibition includes objects of photos, living utensils and historical documents, which are mainly donated by Hakka folks, and some also come from the donation by overseas Hakka community and companies, which especially has time significance. For example, the China Daily of Mauritius has donated “Daily News” published in the past 80 years. Besides, there are “Silk dresses” made by Miaoli Dahu sericulture people in the 1970s, the dowry of “Desktop sewing machines” in the 1930s, and “Sound film machines with super 8mm negative” in the 1970s. All these wonderful and impressive treasures will be fully displayed in the collection exhibition in May, which will lead our countrymen to meet Hakka.
Ho Chin Liang, the director of Taiwan Hakka Cultural Development Center of Hakka Affairs Council, said that in order to thank those donors for donating the collections to the Center in 2018, a grand public appreciation ceremony would be held in the Hakka Museum in Taiwan. Besides expressing appreciation to the donors, the collection of the Hakka cultural relics will be displayed in the museum. It is hoped that it can be used to encourage people to actively donate and call for more cultural relics to be collected and preserved, so as to promote the sustainable preservation and development of Hakka resources and culture, enable people to see the cultural relics closely and feel the multiple features of Hakka culture and memory identity to enrich the value of the cultural heritage of the Hakka in Taiwan. This event will be held at 10 am of May 19, 2019. The exhibition of "meeting Hakka Collection" will be open until August 30, 2019. Welcome to visit.
