“Ke Guan” is a public forum for both popular science and academic specialists. In recent years, research in Taiwanese and global Hakka studies has been growing, making the role of the Taiwan Hakka Museum increasingly important. The inauguration of the Ke Guan periodical looks to break through a one-sided viewpoint and consider the relations and stories of Hakka and neighboring ethnic groups from different angles, to advance the dialogue between the museum’s expertise and Hakka studies, to provide a space for sharing practices and academic discussion related to Hakka (and other ethnic groups) museums. We hope it will be a specialist platform for research and new viewpoints related to the museum, Hakka and ethnicity. We also hope it can be a presentation space for sharing all kinds of experiences of museum practice.

The periodical welcomes research topics and results related to Hakka, ethnicity and museums from all disciplines. Submissions are divided into “Academic Research” and “Museum Forum.” The periodical accepts contributions in Chinese, English and Hakka.

Academic research includes research articles, research notes and reviews. Research articles (around 15,000 characters) refer to formal papers with results of original research. We welcome research articles from fields related to Hakka, ethnicity or museums that cover history (including local history, popular historiography), cultural assets (sources), collections, research, displays, education, management and marketing, local participation and local activation. Research notes (around 10,000 characters) refer to reports or conceptual discussions on important research topics, as well as knowledge gained from field surveys and articles that collate information. Reviews (around 3,000 characters) refer to articles reviewing Hakka-related books, exhibitions, films, music and performances.

Museum Forum is oriented towards multiple perspectives, ethnic memories, cultural exhibitions and visits to Hakka communities. We welcome articles of commentary, documentary or sharing related to Hakka, ethnicity or museums that cover history (including local history, popular history), cultural assets (sources), collections, research, displays, education, management and marketing, local participation and local activation (3,000-5,000 characters).

Submissions are open all year round for any research articles, research notes, reviews and museum forum contributions that are consistent with the purposes of the periodical.
