The Taiwan Hakka Culture Development Center (THCDC) of the Hakka Affairs Council recently won gold in the Muse Design Awards with the Hakka Heritage Exhibition “Biang Jiangˊ: Striving Toward Our Beautiful Homeland (拼.靚:臺灣客家多重面貌).” Standing out in the “Interior Design – Exhibits, Pavilions & Exhibitions” category, the exhibition highlights Taiwanese Hakka culture, history, and lifestyle on the international stage.

Ho Chin-liang (何金樑), the Director-General of THCDC, noted that the “Biang Jiangˊ” exhibition featured 160 relics from various museums and private collectors in the country, including the National Palace Museum, National Museum of Taiwan History, and National Taiwan Museum. As a significant milestone, the THCDC curated this exhibition based on the concept of “Taiwanese’s Hakka” and portrayed the strength and beauty of the people. Starting with the interaction of the Hakka people and other communities, the exhibition illustrated the Hakka’s lifestyle and settlement, connected through a grand narrative in the background. The exhibition is divided into six themes, underlining the Taiwanese Hakka experience through contextualized spatial design.

An AR program, “Treasure Hunt,” was designed to guide visitors on a lively adventure, enhancing the experience for both parents and children. Furthermore, an indoor theater was created using projection mapping, combining tradition with innovation and illustrating the history of the Hakka entertainment industry, while promoting displayed artifacts through traditional Hakka opera.
