To strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors, the Taiwan Hakka Culture Development Center (THCDC) has signed memorandums of understanding with National Museum of Ethnology of Japan, Taiwan’s National United University, National Museum of Taiwan History, and Chaotian Temple of Beigang (北港朝天宮), achieving fruitful results in recent years. Aiming to expand the partnership and to promote research on Taiwan’s historical materials and Hakka studies, the THCDC inked a cooperation agreement with Taiwan Historica on Feb. 12.

The agreement was signed by THCDC Director-General Ho Chin-liang (何金樑) and Taiwan Historica Director Huang Hung-sen (黃宏森). Director-General Ho expressed hope that the collaboration between the two governmental institutions will optimize available resources to enrich Hakka studies and Taiwan’s historical research. Director Huang noted that Taiwan Historica previously co-hosted exhibitions with the THCDC, adding that the  agreement will deepen their partnership. This year, a symposium on historical documents will be held with a joint effort between Taiwan Historica and the THCDC, Huang stated.

In addition, THCDC’s publications have been selected for Taiwan Historica’s incentive programs over the past three years and were featured at this year’s Taipei International Book Exhibition. Meanwhile, Taiwan Historica has expanded its research on Taiwan’s historical materials recently. It is hoped that both institutions will work together to promote cultural education through diverse initiatives.
