According to historical records, the first war in the Liugdui area took place on June 4, 1721, when the forefathers united to defend their land. To commemorate this event, the Hakka Affairs Council designated June 4 as “Liugdui Day” starting in 2021. Since then, a series of ceremonies and events have been held annually, celebrating the occasion with the 12 districts in the Liugdui area.

On Liugdui Day, the Hakka Affairs Council, Kaohsiung City Government, Pingtung County Government, and 12 district offices in Liugdui raised the Liugdui flag in various villages, along Ping-E Highway, Provincial Highway 1, and at the Liugdui Hakka Cultural Park. The design of the Liugdui flag, emphasizing the concept of water, symbolizes the softness and diligence of the Hakka people, who are adaptable and capable of integrating with different communities. Through these flags, Liugdui residents were encouraged to come together to showcase Liugdui’s intangible cultural heritage and highlight the the spirit of Liugdui in the local community.
