The light of firefly, a shiny Liudui activity series

    This is a traditional folk song of Hakka –Firefly. In cities, people can hardly see the sight of firefly. Now Liudui Park is going to show you!
Today, in Shushan ecological zone “Wang-ying-yuan”, the park organized “The light of firefly, a shiny Liudui – The removal of channeled applesnail” activity. It is designed to promote the Firefly Cultivation Program. Through the repair of fireflies’ inhabit area, and the artificial breeding of firefly and return them into the wild, we intend to restore the number of natural firefly.

    This activity was a part of repair work of fireflies’ inhabit area. We removed the invading species “channeled applesnail” to increase the number of its rival “freshwater snails”, which is the food source of fireflies. Except in “Wang-ying-yuan”, we also fostered the food source of fireflies, the freshwater snails. After observation and practice, we worked with the teachers and students in National Winghua Elementary School, the park volunteers and our colleagues to promote the knowledge of environmental protection.
