Event content:

Holding fast to the idea of excavating and preserving the lifestyle background and cultural history of everyday people, our center has been sparing no efforts in cultivating local Hakka villages during recent years. In 2017 we started writing about the history of Hakka villages. With the help of public sectors and non-governmental organizations that are helping to advance and execute the plan, plus contributions of villagers, we have now composed nine village history books. To enable and relate the general public’s understanding to these village histories, we have invited residents of the community to document their own village history for the implementation of the “settlement composition plan of national Hakka village history”. Through initiating key components of the plan such as the “village history talent training program”, “requisition and selection of village history work proposal”, and “village history writing guidance”, we have completed thirteen village history books themed on Hsinchu, Miaoli, Yunlin, and Pingtung.

Today, we invite the authors to share their interview records and writing feedback gathered from various Hakka villages over the past two years. It is expected that we will witness impressive cultural stories and carry the culture of Hakka village forward through the writings of these authors.
