【Announcement】New England Hakka Association celebrates National Hakka Day

The New England Hakka Association celebrated National Hakka Day, aka Ripped Sky Festival, at Boston’s Hyde Community Center in Newton Highland on Feb. 24. About 150 participants gathered together at the venue decorated with traditional Hakka floral fabrics, enjoying Hakka cuisine, folk songs, and dances.

The New England Hakka Association’s affiliated dance troupe presented several marvelous Hakka dances, including four folk dances and a modern piece, which were highly praised by the audience. Additionally, the Hakka Association of New York brought its lion dance troupe, led by Director Huang Kai-rong (黃開榮), to bring hearty greetings to the Hakka community in Boston.

Hsu Yu-tien (徐佑典), Director-General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston, wished everyone a happy lunar new year and complimented Hakka food, the spirit of working hard, and the endeavor of cherishing, preserving, and passing down Hakka culture.

Director of the Cultural Center of TECO-Boston Ou Hung-wei (歐宏偉) also sent his best regards to the Taiwanese people, and, on behalf of Wu Hsin-hsing (吳新興), Minister of the Overseas Community Affairs Council, he thanked members of the New England Hakka Association for their support over the years.
