【Liudui Activity】Liudui footage forum with documentary director Peng Chi-Yuan

For the past thirty years, director Peng Chi-Yuan has been fully engaged in filming documentaries about Hakka villages and has shot countless historic figures and cultural landscapes of Hakka villages using different cameras and lenses. Now these old images truly have become cultural assets in their own right, and we especially invite him to share with us all the image of Liudui and the enchanting tales he discovered thirty years ago as part of the celebration of the 3rd anniversary of the Liudui Hakka Cultural Park next year.
This event is divided into two sessions, and the topics are described below:
Session 1: Footage forum of Liudui images
Documentary film screening and interpretation:
- Introduction to the history and development of Liudui and exploration of the historical remains of river transport and port of the Donggang River.
- Exploration of the ethnic relationship between the Siraya (Taiwanese plains indigenous people) and the Hans by traveling from Wanluan Township to Laopi Village via Neipu Township.
Session 2: Footage forum of impressive images
Documentary film screening and interpretation:
- Introducing Meinong residents, the Meinung River, and the historical development of Meinung Township in relation to the Meinung Anti-Dam Movement and the Meinung butterfly festival.
- Introducting Meinung’s water conservation structure and religious beliefs; the process and significance of the traditional character-cherishing festival.

Additional information:
In response to protective measures against the coronavirus, all participants must wear a face mask when attending the forum.
If the forum is cancelled due a force majeure event, the organizer reserves the right to postpone or change the content and scheduling of the event. Those who have already registered will not need to sign up again, and a further announcement regarding the new schedule of the event will be issued.
