Fourth Nationwide Hakka Village Histories Solicitation and Writing Guidance Project—Contracting Briefing Concludes with Success

We thank all the authors for visiting the Taiwan Hakka Museum today (7/1) to complete the signing procedures for the “Fourth Nationwide Hakka Village Histories Solicitation and Writing Guidance Project.” Congratulations to the 20 groups of authors (15 newly joined groups and 5 veteran groups) who stood out among numerous submissions to become the village history writers for the Center’s “Fourth Nationwide Hakka Village Histories Project.”
During the event, Center Director Hsieh Sheng-hsin personally attended to cheer on the authors, encouraging everyone to persevere in the writing process with a rigorous and meticulous attitude so that the final written accounts faithfully reflect the actual historical context.
In addition to the Center explaining contractual matters during this briefing, Professor Yu Long-tong, who also serves as Department Chair of the Department of Cultural Tourism Industry at National United University, led the implementation team to provide additional details on the village histories guidance and manuscript review process. Furthermore, authors with prior writing experience shared their observations and experiences from the fieldwork process, helping new authors gain a more concrete grasp of the key points for preparing to collect village history materials.
Writing village histories is a process that requires accumulation of time, repeated organization, and continuous dialog. Along this journey, each group of new authors will be assigned a mentor to provide writing consultation and support. The Center and the implementation team will also continue to accompany each group of authors, working together to record wonderful local stories for Hakka villages and preserve precious memories belonging to these local areas.
